Pavlo Lyusin is a 18 year old central midfielder who is currently playing for Dynamo Kyiv U19 in the U19 Premier Liga. In the 25/26 season, he made three appearances on the bench for the first team, two appearances in the league and one in the cup but has not made his debut yet. He is currently a Ukraine U19 international and helped his team make it to the semi-finals of the UEFA U19 EURO tournament and earning a spot in the 2027 U20 World Cup. In four matches, he had one goal and three assists in the UEFA U19 EURO tournament.

Standing at 5’9 with a lean, agile build, his lower body power gives him exceptional agility and quickness in tight spaces. He combines sharp first step quickness with solid top speed, allowing him to surge past opponents and demonstrates the ability to match the speed of most attacking midfielders and wingers. In tight spaces, he displays outstanding change of direction ability combined with rapid deceleration, making him elusive when carrying the ball. He shows decent strength in duels but does not dominate physically and can outmuscled by bigger, more muscular opponents. With exceptional aerobic fitness, he maintains a high volume of runs and pressing intensity until the end of matches. He has a below average jumping power for a midfielder, he is regularly out jumped in aerial duels by both taller and similar sized opponents. He is proactive in stepping up to win possession, attacks the ball fearlessly in 50/50s but can be reckless with tackles at times.

In possession, Lyusin plays a box to box midfielder in a 4-2-3-1 possession based system, carrying the ball forward, creates chances with passes and controls the tempo. In build up, he drops deep to offer a safe pivot option and his proactive positioning allows him to form clean triangles with both center backs, facilitating clean progression through the midfield line. He scans reasonably well before receiving but can be caught looking in one direction under pressure. Lyusin’s proactive movement allows him to act as the link player, offering support on both sides and rarely leaving players isolated under pressure. His clean, directional first touch enables him to play quick combinations and play forward with his second touch even when closed down quickly. He shows high level composure under pressure; he invites the press and releases the ball at the right time and carries it forward. Lyusin is a versatile distributor who can play short combinations, progressive vertical passes and clipped balls over the top, making him capable of changing the point of attack instantly. His excellent decision making and tempo control allow him to dictate the game and rarely forcing risky passes. He maintains close control at speed, drives forward with purpose and uses quick changes of pace to beat midfield markers. Lyusin combines technical flair with tactical intelligence, frequently generating high quality chances and has the ability find subtle runs and execute imaginative through balls.

Out of possession, Lyusin sits in a strong screening role in front of the back four, protecting central areas while shifting laterally to cover half-spaces. He shows adequate scanning and anticipation for the position but lacks the sharpness to consistently predict subtle opposition patterns. While he maintains a reasonable midfield shape, he can become disconnected during transitions, creating small exploitable gaps when opposition play quick switches. Lyusin reacts sharply to clear pressing triggers such as heavy touches and back passes. His well timed triggers allow the team to regain possession high up the pitch. He tends to mistime or be reckless when tackling, leading to a high number of fouls and cards. Lyusin shows adequate work rate when tracking back and recovers reasonably well but can be caught out of position in quick transitions, leaving large gaps in the midfield during counter attacks.

Lyusin has proven to be a box to box midfielder that displays outstanding change of direction in tight spaces and constantly adjust his position to offer clean passing angles in build up. With further development in the technique and timing in his tackles and showing more effort in tracking back in transitions, he can be a consistent starter in a top half team in a top five league. He would fit well as a box to box midfielder in a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 possession based system. His current level is starting for a sub top team in a top 16-18 league with potential to play in a top half team in a top five league.
