Yahia Jlidi is a 17-year-old striker who is currently playing for Angers SCO U17 in the Championnat National U17 in France. In the 25/26 season, he made one appearance on the bench for Angers SCO in Ligue 1 and made five appearances, scoring one goal for their U19 side in the Championnat National U19. Jlidi is currently a Tunisia U17 international and scored one goal in the 2026 U17 Africa Cup of Nations, starting all three matches in the group phase and playing the full 90 minutes in the three matches.
Standing at approximately 6’0″ with a powerful physique and strong core, he uses his size effectively to shield the ball, consistently win duels and occupy defenders without losing his balance. He consistently shields the ball with his back to goal, holds off multiple defenders before laying off, and drives through contact when dribbling. He shows reasonable burst of acceleration over short distances but lacks the top-end pace to stretch high lines. He benefits from clever movement rather than raw pace. He is solid on his feet and has a functional change of direction but lacks the quickness in tight spaces to consistently beat defenders. Jlidi is competent in the air, has a decent jumping reach and wins a fair share of headers, but is not a primary aerial threat in the opposition box. He shows excellent short burst energy and pressing in the first half, but intensity drops in the final 20 minutes and becomes less effective at closing down. Jlidi shows strong physical aggression and desire to win duels but needs to improve control to avoid unnecessary fouls.
In possession, Jlidi plays as a second striker in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2 formation. He drops into the space between the opposition’s midfield and defense to receive the ball from the midfield and creates chances by delivering through balls and bringing teammates into play effectively. He will often drift into wide spaces to draw markers away from the main striker and create overloads. Jlidi makes standard runs in behind and times runs well but lacks the variation to consistently outsmart well-organized defenses. He protects the ball well with his back to goal and links play smoothly with one-touch passes and clever flicks. Jlidi shows impressive dribbling ability in tight areas, using skill moves and body feints to create separation before releasing a shot or pass. His decision-making is decent but lacks elite decision-making speed and sometimes holds on to the ball too long. He is a strong finisher with both feet when given time and has promising shot power but can snatch at chances in crowded boxes and at times wastes opportunities from promising positions. Jlidi shows excellent technical quality with a clean first touch and reliable ball control. He has the ability to execute skill moves in congested spaces and play incisive passes under pressure.
Out of possession, Jlidi is willing and physically capable of high-intensity pressing, applies pressure when the opportunity is obvious but rarely wins the ball back high up the pitch. He has a strong understanding of team structure, drops into a disciplined 4-4-2 shape when required and stays compact with his midfield. He is highly committed to his defensive duties, makes vital recovery sprints to cover central areas and shows real desire to help the team defensively even after losing possession. He is willing and aggressive in duels with promising physical attributes and wins a high percentage of shoulder-to-shoulder battles.
Jlidi has proven to be a versatile second striker who uses his strong core to consistently shield the ball and occupy defenders without losing his balance. His impressive dribbling ability and use of skill moves in tight areas allow him to create separation from opposition defenders. With further development in his decision-making in the final third and more variation in his runs in behind or movement in the opposition box, he can be a starter for a bottom half team in a top 5 league. He would fit well as a second striker in a 4-4-2 counter-attacking system, and his current level is starting for a bottom half team in a top 9-15 league.
