Samir Mohammad is an 18-year-old left winger currently playing for Houston Dynamo 2 in MLS Next Pro. He was signed from the Houston Dynamo academy to a professional contract for the 2026 season, but he made his debut for the reserve side in 2025. In the 2026 MLS Next Pro season, he has 22 appearances, two goals, and two assists.
Standing at approximately 6’1″ with a lean, athletic frame, he combines explosive first-step acceleration with high top-end speed that allows him to consistently beat fullbacks on the outside. He is very quick off the mark with excellent repeat sprint ability, wins foot races, and his speed makes him a threat in transitions or 1v1s. He changes direction sharply, uses quick feet to wrong-foot fullbacks, and maintains balance at high speed. Mohammad shows decent strength when driving with the ball but can be outmuscled by more physical fullbacks and needs to add strength to better shield and hold them off. He covers large distances with consistent intensity, maintains high-intensity sprints and defensive tracking throughout the 90+ minutes, and shows a strong desire to win the ball back. He presses with real bite and is assertive in counter-pressing or second ball situations.
In possession, Mohammad is a traditional winger who uses pace and dribbling to beat defenders 1v1 and delivers crosses into the box with his left foot. He is an excellent 1v1 dribbler with sharp close control and quick feet, using feints and step-overs to wrong-foot defenders. He explodes into space when receiving and regularly progresses the ball from midfield into the final third. His crossing is decent when reaching the byline, providing width and occasional dangerous balls, but delivery with his weak foot and in tight spaces needs improvement. He creates separation with sharp double movements, offers width, and makes a standard number of runs in behind, though the timing and quality of his runs are ordinary rather than decisive. Mohammad takes shots when opportunities arise but lacks real precision and power, and he struggles with composure when faced with tight marking or awkward angles. He shows creativity with clever touches and flicks, but his vision and final ball need refinement under pressure. He has the ability to manipulate the ball in tight spaces with either foot and shows refined skill in 1v1 situations. In the final third, he sometimes holds the ball too long or chooses the safer pass instead of the more incisive one.
Out of possession, he consistently makes repeated sprints to close down or disrupt opposition build-up and effectively funnels play into crowded areas. He shows great desire to help defensively, quickly transitions from defense to attack, and shows great desire to help defensively. He shows a good understanding of when to press or when to drop back and uses clever angles to block passing lanes down the flank. Mohammad reads opposition build-up patterns well and knows when to engage in duels versus when to delay and force the opponent wide.
Mohammad has proven to be a traditional winger who uses quick feet to wrong-foot fullbacks and shows creativity with clever touches and flicks in tight spaces. He covers large distances with consistent intensity and consistently shows a great desire to win the ball back. With further improvement in his decision-making in the final third and not holding the ball too long, he can become a starter for a sub-top team in a top 9-15 league. He would fit best in a high-pressing 3-4-3 system. His current level is starting for a mid-table team in a top 16-20 league, with potential to play for a sub-top team in a top 9-15 league.
