David Sambissa

Player profile:

  • Nationality: French
  • Age: 24
  • Date of birth: 11/01/1996
  • Current Club: SC Cambuur
  • Career: FC Bordeaux (Y), Jong Twente, SC Cambuur
  • Position: Left Back
  • Preferred foot: Left

Sambissa played the left full-back in the four-man defence Cambuur employed within their 4-3-3 formation. Sambissa is a defender who likes to play high up on the pitch both in defence and attack. In attack he makes runs down the line in order to cross to get into crossing positions. In defence he marks tightly, preventing the attacker from receiving the ball, but this doesn’t always work as the attacker is quick and this gives a lot of space on that particular flank. Sambissa tries to correct this with sliding tackles.

Rating: B1

Sambissa probably is too good for this league, because Cambuur has a good squad in this division. I would say he could do better in a division higher like the Eredivisie, but he has not really been tested defensively. I will have to scout him more to be more concrete.

Robin Maulun

Player profile:

  • Nationality: French
  • Age: 23
  • Date of birth: 23/11/1996
  • Current Club: SC Cambuur
  • Career: FC Bordeaux (Y), Trélissac FC, SC Cambuur
  • Position: Attacking Midfielder
  • Secondary position: Central Midfielder
  • Preferred foot: right

Maulun played as an attacking midfielder in the middle of the three midfielders. He was the focal point of the attack, as the centre backs passed the ball to him and he distributed passes to the overlapping wing-backs or to the three attackers, mostly to the striker Mühren. His duels were not great, standing at 1.76 meters, he is not a strong force in the air either. But he does compensate this with strong positioning and press, making him an option for the other players to pass the ball to. His passing is full of risk, because of the through balls he wants to play, but his counter-pressing makes sure he doesn’t cause trouble for his team.

Rating: A2

Maulun is an intelligent attacking midfielder who’s mind is always on creating chances. His counter-pressing is impressive, but he does lack in duels and physicality. He could do better than the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, but I am not how he would do in a physical demanding league.

Jamie Jacobs

Player profile:

  • Nationality: Dutch
  • Age: 22
  • Date of birth: 03/121997
  • Current Club: SC Cambuur
  • Career: FC Volendam (Y), AZ Almaar (Y), SC Cambuur
  • Position: Central Midfielder
  • Secondary position: Attacking Midfielder
  • Preferred foot: Left

The 1.82 meter tall midfielder played on the left and had a more attacking role in this three-man midfield. In the defensive transition, Jacobs played in front of the defence and effectively was a defensive midfielder with a great sense of build-up and interception alongside Hoedemakers, forming a double pivot. In 1v1s he was strong and was not afraid to commit to fouls, in order to reduce the threat of Jong AZ. His passing was direct and he often sought to give a short pass and let others progress. He does not shy away from aerial duels and is often strong in those particular situations. His discipline could be better as he commits to a lot of fouls.

Rating: B1

Jacobs did really well in this game and you can see that this youngster has potential. I need to see more games of Jacobs however to really judge what his potential.

Mees Hoedemakers

Player profile:

  • Nationality: Dutch
  • Age: 22
  • Date of birth: 18/02/1998
  • Current Club: SC Cambuur, on loan from AZ Alkmaar
  • Career: AZ Alkmaar (Y), AZ Alkmaar, SC Cambuur (L)
  • Position: Defensive Midfielder
  • Secondary position: Central Midfielder
  • Preferred foot: Either

Hoedemakers played as the defensive midfielder in three-man defence and played between the defence and the midfield. In the defensive phase of the game, he would join the four-man defence – which effectively made it a 5-3-2 formation. He’s intelligent and stands 1.82 metres tall, able to defend in the air well. As soon as Jong AZ got the ball, he either pressed the ball or he man-marked his direct opponent. He’s enthusiastic, but this also means that he makes fouls in trying to recover the ball. His positioning is good, but his awareness can be better. He often opted to give a long pass, when others were available close to him. He’s confident in his technical abilities and shows this when they attack. On the other hand, he was very emotional when decisions by the referee don’t go his way.

Rating: A2

Ragnar Oratmangoen

Player profile:

  • Nationality: Dutch
  • Age: 22
  • Date of birth: 21/01/1998
  • Current Club: SC Cambuur
  • Career: Top Oss (Y), NEC Nijmegen (Y), Top Oss (L), SC Cambuur
  • Position: Striker
  • Secondary position: Attacking Midfielder
  • Preferred foot: Right

Oratmangoen is quick player on the flanks and uses that in his play. He started on the right flank, but switched to the left flank, later on. He often anticipates ball close to the far post and makes sure he’s there when needed. His positioning was quite deep and his first touch was poor on occasions. He needed to recover and then his crossing was easily blocked. His 1v1 is good, as he is strong and quick on his feet. His shooting was decent, but his first touch prevented him from actually getting a goal.

Rating: B1

Michael Breij

Player profile:

  • Nationality: Dutch
  • Age: 23
  • Date of birth: 15/01/1997
  • Current Club: SC Cambuur
  • Career: SV Ouderkerk (Y), AFC Amsterdam (Y), AZ Alkmaar (Y), FC Groningen, SC Cambuur
  • Position: Left Wing
  • Secondary position: Striker, Attacking Midfielder
  • Preferred foot: Right

Breij played on the left-flank and sought to keep the playing field wide. After a while he switched to the right-flank. His first touch is decent and he anticipated long balls from the defence. After that he would use his pace to take on his direct opponent and provide a cross to the striker. In the 1v1 he could easily cruise past his direct defender. His right-foot is excellent, but he refuses to use his left foot unless it absolutely necessary. He rewarded himself with a goal.

Rating: B1

I think he’s a good attacker for the level he’s acting on, but I’m not convinced he will do better on a higher level. I will scout him further to see how he plays against a better opponent.
