Malte Fismen is a 16-year-old forward from Norway that plays for Åsane in the OBOS-Ligaen, the second division of Norway. He plays mostly as a striker, but he has shown that he can play as a left winger as well. Fismen is around 180 centimeters tall and has an ectomorphic body build. Despite his age, he has already featured numerous starts for Åsane’s first team and looks like a name to keep tracking closely in the years ahead. Fismen is a right footed player. After 15 games (13 starts), he scored once and gave two assists.

Fismen is already on a quite high level with his technicality. He keeps the ball close to his feet and can retain possession in tight areas even under pressure. He wins fouls often and doesn’t go down easily. He’s a composed, effective dribbler in small spaces, keeping his eyes low between the ball and his opponent’s feet as he tries to go past him. His decision-making in one-on-ones could occasionally be quicker. Sometimes he holds onto the ball a bit too long before deciding whether to pass or continue dribbling. He often uses the outside of his right foot while dribbling with the ball. He shows good instincts for finding space in the final third with and without the ball. In front of the goal, he can give good power to his shots, but he regularly gives too much power to shots from outside the box, with go over the crossbar. His general shot accuracy is quite well though, mostly going in the right direction but the power is his biggest problem. Regularly his shots are just too weak as well, so his consistency in power is also a small issue. The passing abilities of the 16-year-old are good for the level he’s at. He keeps it rather short, not giving high or long passes often. His vision for the passes is quite alright, he scans his surroundings often with and without the ball. His weaker left foot is used often when dribbling and for receiving the ball. It’s alright, he can give decent passes with it but keeps it short when using his left foot. His shots are quite alright with it as well.

Fismen shows a good work rate to contribute to the defence as a forward, regularly dropping deep into a defensive position and sometimes as far back as around 30 metres. He applies good pressure up top when an attack or build-up starts near him, showing a proactive approach to his defensive work. Fismen can even keep tracking the opponent and keep following him until a teammate takes over. He’s also shown some game intelligence in disrupting opponents, smartly cutting off an opponent’s path to win a foul during a counterattack or a challenge for a loose ball. He can put in a decent standing tackle too, occasionally winning back possession cleanly.

Fismen’s frame is still growing because of his age, but he has already a modest amount of muscle in his arms and legs so far. His central build is already decent however, definitely for his age. His jumping reach is good, and he can jump quite high even without runoff. He can also engage actively in aerial duels despite his smaller frame. However, he clearly needs more experience in the air: his timing, and his judgement of whether to jump at all, is often mediocre. His reading of the ball’s trajectory is also not the best, and he can pick up fouls when he attacks a duel too aggressively from distance. He prefers to position himself in front of his opponent in the air, though his overall positioning there still needs refinement (partially of his weak reading of the ball’s trajectory), and he can lose his balance fairly easily after contact in the air. On the ground, a strong opponent can hold him off the ball with a shoulder charge, but in side-to-side duels he can show good balance and composure to keep possession of the ball. He is quite capable of shielding the ball and even pushing back with his own shoulder. He doesn’t shy away from physical contact and holds his own reasonably well for his build and age, relying on his agility and technical quality when his strength isn’t enough. His balance and agility are genuine strengths, he turns quickly, and his acceleration into a decent top speed is pretty good too. His top speed is quite good, but nothing over the top.

Fismen is talkative on the pitch, visibly asking for the ball with both hands directed towards his feet and frequently calling for it into space. He can look frustrated with himself after committing a foul, and he scans his surroundings well when competing for a loose ball. However, he could sometimes be a touch more ready to receive a pass when it comes. His work rate stands out on both sides of the ball, and he’s a talkative, engaged player throughout his matches. Positionally, he tends to drift slightly more often toward the left side of the pitch.

Malte Fismen already looks technically ahead of his years. He’s comfortable on the ball, direct in his dribbling, looking very confident on the pitch, all while still physically developing. His work rate and willingness to defend add good maturity to the total package. The main areas to sharpen are his aerial game and his decision-making speed in one-on-ones, but the technical foundation is clearly there. His finishing in front of the goal could also be a bit better, as he’s a striker in the end. But at just 16 years and already involved at senior level, Fismen is a genuinely exciting talent worth following closely. He has a long career in front of him, and he needs minutes that he receives at the moment to keep on developing.
