Artem Husol is a 20-year-old winger from Ukraine who plays for Kolos Kovalivka in the Ukrainian Premier League. He is comfortable on both wings, having featured as both a left and right winger during his career. Husol is at around 184 centimeters tall and has a leaner, ectomorphic body build with a fairly wide frame. He has already picked up caps for the Ukraine U21 side, appearing in EURO U21 qualifying. Artem comes off his first season as a (mostly) starter for Kolos Kovalivka.
In attack Husol is an exciting and dynamic attacker. He is an excellent dribbler, capable of beating his man with good technicality. Occasionally he uses skill moves when dribbling, but his close control and quick feet make him a genuine threat in one-on-one situations. His first touch is a strength too, he likes to play first-time passes to keep the build-up moving as well. He positions himself smartly to receive the ball in good areas in the final third and is dangerous when running in behind the opposition’s back line. He also draws fouls consistently, rarely ‘flopping’. However, his decision-making with the ball could be quicker and sharper. He sometimes holds onto possession for too long and drives into situations that are too crowded to escape cleanly, showing a sign of slight egoism. His shooting isn’t great. He shoots with good power off both feet, but his accuracy isn’t great. Especially after a dribble or from distance, and he isn’t the most clinical finisher in one-on-one chances with the goalkeeper. He can also delay his shot too long when a pass was the better option. His delivery from wide areas is another area for growth, as his crossing tends to be inaccurate. His passing accuracy overall is solid. He holds himself up quite well under pressure, although he rarely plays a long ball unless it’s a cross. Interestingly, he isn’t often directly on the scoresheet with goals or assists. Last season he noted 0 goals or assists in the Ukrainian Premier League. But his main value in attack comes from creating and driving moves himself rather than finishing them off. But there’s definitely room for him to get more involved in the final actions of an attack given how often he already wins fouls in dangerous areas.
Husol contributes more defensively than the average winger. He presses opponents near him regularly during their build-up and is willing to drop deep to help, even tracking back during counterattacks after pushing high up the pitch himself. He can put in several tackles during a match, and while his timing isn’t always precise, he wins the ball cleanly on a good number of occasions. His willingness to sprint back and support the defensive line, even after making a high, advanced run, speaks to his work rate. Working on his timing to standing and sliding tackles would make him way better defensively. His marking is quite decent, but he doesn’t need to mark a particular man often.
Physically, Husol has an ectomorphic build. His arms and legs carry only a moderate amount of muscle, but his legs are noticeably more developed than his arms. But his overall frame is still fairly wide for a winger. However, he stands out physically with his movement: he is very agile, turns quickly, and possesses excellent acceleration and top speed, allowing him to press opponents or sprint in behind a ball very quickly. He’s also decent in the air in comparison to other wingers. His jumping reach is good, height helps him here, and while he doesn’t go into aerial duels often, he’s willing to contest headers both in attack and when tracking back to defend. He reads the trajectory of the ball well, although he can occasionally misjudge a long ball as a pass in behind, which causes him to backtrack unnecessarily. His timing in the air could still improve, as he sometimes jumps too early, and his overall positioning for aerial duels needs sharpening too. His upper-body strength isn’t great, but it’s enough to be useful. He uses his arms and shoulders to shield the ball, put pressure on opponents, or block a defender from reaching it. However, he isn’t the strongest player. He can visibly struggle against defenders that shield off the ball, and he himself can get pushed off the ball quite easily.
Tactically and mentally, Husol is a passionate and animated character on the pitch. He can show visible frustration towards teammates after a misplaced pass, reacting briefly if a run isn’t made the way he expected. He’s also vocal after fouls, whether they’re for or against him, and isn’t shy about letting the referee know when he feels a card is warranted. He likes to make his intentions clear to teammates, actively signalling for the ball and where he wants it delivered. Positionally, he sits deep during offensive corners and pushes higher during defensive ones, and he tends to keep the ball tight to his feet, leaning slightly forward when carrying it. Though he’s right-footed, he regularly uses his left foot for dribbling, receiving, and short passing, giving him a useful degree of two-footedness in tight areas.
Artem Husol is a quick, technically gifted winger with genuine dribbling quality and a real engine, both going forward and in tracking back defensively. His athleticism, ball-carrying, and willingness to press and support his team out of possession make him an interesting profile for an attacker. With improvement in his decision-making, shooting accuracy, and delivery from wide areas, he has the tools to become a dangerous winger. Now, he needs to pick up consistent minutes in the starting 11. But the base for a good winger is already there. If he could improve with these traits, I can definitely see him as a future winger in the top 8 leagues. But at the moment, staying in Ukraine or going to Poland or the Czech Republic would be the best for him.
