SC Internacional – Match Report vs. Grêmio 13/03/20

Grêmio hosted Internacional in which was a very eventful Grenal derby. In the end, the eight men of Grêmio drew 0-0 with the eight men of Internacional. Grêmio lined up in a fluid 4-3-3 with attacking full-backs and two inside forwards. Matheus Henrique was the main man in the build-up and played as a deep lying playmaker. Internacional played in a 4-2-3-1 formation that often switched to a three at the back in possession. In this match, it could easily be seen that there was a lot at stake and that it was a very intense match, in which aspects as determination prevailed, rather than tactics. However, it was a very entertaining match.

Ratings

  • A1 – Very good, could play higher

  • B1 – Good, strong player at level
  • B2 – Potential to be strong player at level
  • C – Average for the level, rewatch

Gabriel Boschilia

  • Nationality: Brazilian
  • Age: 24
  • Date of birth: 05-03-1996
  • Club: SC Internacional
  • Career: São Paulo (Y), São Paulo, AS Monaco, Standard Liège (L), FC Nantes (L), SC Internacional
  • Position: attacking midfield
  • Secondary position: right winger and left winger
  • Preferred foot: left

Gabriel Boschilia played as a left attacking midfielder in this match and he did not make a good impression. In possession, Boschilia switched up between sticking to the sideline and playing in the halfspaces. His passing ability was functional. It did not stand out, but it was not bad as well. He made some good runs and in these runs, he proved that he has a very good acceleration and pace. His decision making in the final third was below average as he sometimes needed to lay it off instead of shooting himself. He occasionally linked up well with his teammates to get into scoring position. His defensive contribution was below average.

Rating: B1

I think that he is a good player for Internacional at this moment, but I need to rewatch him.

Bruno Fuchs

  • Nationality: Brazilian
  • Age: 21
  • Date of birth: 01-04-1999
  • Club: SC Internacional
  • Career: SC Internacional (Y)
  • Position: central defender
  • Preferred foot: right

Bruno Fuchs played as a right central defender in which was his first Grenal derby of his career. The young Brazilian made some small mistakes and one big mistake, but definitely seemed to have quite a lot of potential in this match. In possession, he often played in a three at the back as the right central defender and he often was in space to think about his next pass. He looked very confident on the ball and was not scared to dribble it out from the back. Both his short and long passing was good.

In defence, he sometimes missed experience in the duels as his opponent sometimes outsmarted him in the duels. However, he was confident in stepping out of the defensive line and made sure that he did not get dribbled past when he stepped out. He closed gaps towards the right and left well when his teammates stepped out. He did well to get in front of his opponent at crosses and often made the good decision, especially in a dangerous corner which was a 5v3 for Grêmio. He closed the gap towards Éverton and managed to intercept the ball.

However, in the 84th minute, he got his pass wrong which led to a very dangerous counter for Grêmio and after he made a mistake in his body positioning as well, Grêmio had the chance to score the winner. Also, he occasionally (two times) missed a tackle and got dribbled past. In these situations, he slid in with his right knee on the ground and his left foot forward which allowed him to stand up quickly.

Bruno Fuchs is 191cm, but does not seem that muscly and is only 82kg. He was not tested that much on his agility in this match, but given that he seemed quite mobile this will probably be decent, even though he will never be the quickest on the turn because of his build.

Rating: A2

He needs to gain some more experience before moving to the top 5 leagues, but could be a good player for top clubs outside of the top 5 leagues as he is clearly a talented defender.
