Steven Pabón

Player profile:

  • Nationality: Venezuelan
  • Age: 18
  • Date of birth: 25/07/2001
  • Current Club: Metropolitanos FC
  • Career: Metropolitanos FC (Y)
  • Position: central defender
  • Secondary position: right-back
  • Preferred foot: right

Steven Pabón played as a right central defender and did not impress that much. Even though he got in front of his opponent at times, he stepped out of the defensive line way too much and timed his interception wrongly often, which meant that he was out of position. He tried to read the game well, but in general he did not do this good enough.

He kept composed in the defensive third and coached his teammates well. At once, he did the offside trap well. On the ball, he was composed as well but he did not have a good passing technique and he had too many inaccurate passes. Physically, he was not that strong as well as he stands at 1,82 m and was not smart enough in the duels.

Rating: B2

I think he could become a strong player in the Venezuelan league, but I don’t think he will become a better player than that.

Abraham Bahachille

Player profile:

  • Nationality: Venezuelan
  • Age: 19
  • Date of birth: 08/03/2001
  • Current Club: Metropolitanos FC, on loan from Caracas FC
  • Career: Metropolitanos FC (Y)
  • Position: central midfielder
  • Secondary position: centre-back, defensive midfielder
  • Preferred foot: right

Abraham Bahachille played as a central midfielder. He often dropped deep between the two centre-backs to play as a third centre-back in possession and he swapped this role with Larotonda a lot of times. He stands at 1.93m at the age of 19 and it seemed like he did not know how to use his body sometimes. Especially when he needed to control a bumpy pass.

This also meant that he is not that press resistant. However, when the ball was on the ground his decision-making in his passing was very good and he often picked out the right pass. In defence, he sometimes made the wrong choices. At times, he put pressure on the opponent but he got dribbled past which meant that there was a lot of space in his back.

Rating: B2

I need to rewatch him next season, to see if he has learned to use his height as an advantage, rather than a disadvantage.

Christian Larotonda

Player profile:

  • Nationality: Venezuelan
  • Age: 20
  • Date of birth: 26/05/1999
  • Current Club: Metropolitanos FC
  • Career: Getafe CF (Y), Metropolitanos FC (Y)
  • Position: defensive midfielder
  • Preferred foot: right

Christian Larotonda played as a central midfielder. As for Bahachille, he dropped deep at times between the two central defenders to play as a third central defender in possession. This meant that the full-backs could play higher up the pitch. The Venezuelan exploited the space on the right wing that Hernández left open as he positioned himself too high up the pitch at times.

The 20-year-old has okay passing ability and a decent technique. It did not stand-out, but it was above average. He used his body well at times to shield off the ball to stay in possession or draw fouls. In the second half, he made a good run into the box, driving into the space that was left open. He received a good cross and managed to tap it in to score the 2-0.

In defence, he managed to close the gap that the right-back left open occasionally. He chose the right moments to put pressure and timed his interceptions well. However, when he tried to cut passing lanes, he did not check his shoulders enough to see that his opponent had moved and this led often to the fact that he could not intercept the pass.

Rating: A2

I think that he needs some more experience in this level before he can move to a better league in South America.

Jonathan Castillo

Player profile:

  • Nationality: Venezuelan
  • Age: 19
  • Date of birth: 07/01/2001
  • Current Club: Metropolitanos FC
  • Career: Metropolitanos FC (Y)
  • Position: right winger
  • Secondary position: left winger
  • Preferred foot: right

Jonathan Castillo played as a right midfielder in this match. He impressed with his acceleration on the ball and pace in the long distance. He did well to exploit the space in behind on the right and he got fouled often. However, a lot of crosses were inaccurate, even though they were not that bad and came close to finding it’s target.

Rating: B2

I need to rewatch to see if he has more than just pace and acceleration.

Daniel Pérez

Player profile:

  • Nationality: Venezuelan
  • Age: 18
  • Date of birth: 17/01/2002
  • Current Club: Metropolitanos FC
  • Career: Metropolitanos FC (Y)
  • Position: striker
  • Preferred foot: right

Daniel Pérez played as a striker in a 4-4-2 and it was a bit of a quiet performance by the 18-year-old. He did well to make some good runs in between the two centre-backs or the centre-back and the left-back of the opposition. Also, he managed to hold up play well at times, but he did not receive the ball that often. He coached his teammates well in the first phase of putting pressure. He did not time his aerial duels well which meant that he often lost these duels.

Rating: B2

I’m not too sure of his on the ball qualities as he had a quiet match, so I need to rewatch him.
