Federico Arbeláez

Player profile:

  • Nationality: Colombian
  • Age: 23
  • Date of birth: 10/11/1996
  • Current Club: Boyacá Patriotas FC (L)
  • Career: Independiente Santa Fe, Boyacá Patriotas FC
  • Position: left-back
  • Preferred foot: left

Federico Arbeláez played as a left-back. He did not stand out in defending at all. When Boyacá lost possession high up the pitch, he put pressure in the center of the pitch while he left his position unoccupied. This left a lot of space open and he did not show awareness to get back in position. Also, on the ball he made some questionable decisions, such as trying to dribble it out from the back and not checking his shoulders before losing the ball in the defensive third.

Rating: B2 / C

I need to rewatch him, but he did not impress me in this match.

Cristian Barrios

Player profile:

  • Nationality: Colombian
  • Age: 21
  • Date of birth: 19/05/1998
  • Current Club: Boyacá Patriotas FC
  • Career: Boyacá Patriotas FC
  • Position: central midfielder
  • Secondary position: left midfielder
  • Preferred foot: right

Cristian Barrios played as the left central midfielder in this match. Barrios is quite small, which helped him in his agility and balance, but he lacked physique and when he came into the duels, he got pushed off the ball easily. He can dribble well and had good spatial awareness as he managed to position himself between the lines well. His through passes were mediocre at times, even though he had lots of time.

Barrios made a good run in-behind between Mosquera and Murillo and it nearly resulted in a penalty for Boyacá Patriotas FC. When Boyacá lost possession in the final third, Barrios was very aggressive to recover possession quickly. However, when he did this, he was the only one to do so at times which meant that he left a huge gap in his position.

Rating: B2

In first sight, I don’t think that he would succeed in Europe because the lack of physique. Also, he does not have the technical ability to back his lack of physique up. He could certainly become a strong player on this level though.

Daniel Mantilla

Player profile:

  • Nationality: Colombian
  • Age: 23
  • Date of birth: 25/12/1996
  • Current Club: Boyacá Patriotas FC
  • Career: Real San Andrés, Boyacá Patriotas FC, Leones FC (L), Académica Coimbra, Boyacá Patriotas FC
  • Position: central midfielder
  • Secondary position: left midfielder
  • Preferred foot: right

Daniel Mantilla played as a right central midfielder. He showed that he has good acceleration on the ball, he managed to get past opponents by using quick feints and he’s a smart player in the tight spaces. He did not show good awareness when putting pressure, as he sometimes put pressure on the defensive line while the midfield did not support him which meant that there was a lot of space between Mantilla and Ramírez and the other Boyacá players. His physique is below average.

Rating: B2

Lacks physique to succeed in Europe, and just like Barrios, he hasn’t got the technical ability to back his lack of physique up.

Carlos Ramírez

Player profile:

  • Nationality: Colombian
  • Age: 23
  • Date of birth: 22/10/1996
  • Current Club: Boyacá Patriotas FC
  • Career: Fortaleza CIF, Cúcuta Deportivo, FCR Valledupar & Boyacá Patriotas FC
  • Position: striker
  • Preferred foot: right

Carlos Ramírez played as a striker and failed to impress. He did well to put pressure on the opponent and forced them to move forward. He did not have good ball control under pressure, but he did well to use his body in the duels with the central defenders at times. He was not involved in the build-up that much.

Rating: D

Not an interesting player at all and there is no need to rewatch him.

Maicol Medina

Player profile:

  • Nationality: Colombian
  • Age: 22
  • Date of birth: 04/06/1997
  • Current Club: Boyacá Patriotas FC
  • Career: Boyacá Patriotas FC & Llaneros FC
  • Position: defensive midfielder
  • Preferred foot: left

Maicol Medina played as a defensive midfielder in this game and was the best player of Boyacá Patriotas in this match. He played as the playmaker and managed to get some very good long passes off. Medina was good in the tight spaces, as he managed to play a pass through the slightest of gaps to play out of pressure.

When Medina got put under pressure, he either played a long pass to the wings or he accelerated past his opponent. He is not the quickest on the long run, but his acceleration was decent. His through passing was inconsistent, but at times he managed to play a good through pass. In defence, he made some good interceptions as he read the game well.

Medina positioned himself well in possession. He sometimes dropped very deep between the two centre-backs, but he sometimes chose to move between the lines as well. This did not look smooth, but he managed to get into a good position often to receive the pass and progress up the pitch.

Rating: A1

I think he could play for a better team in Colombia or move to Argentina or Brazil.

Jhon Fredy Miranda

Player profile:

  • Nationality: Colombian
  • Age: 23
  • Date of birth: 07/03/1997
  • Current Club: Boyacá Patriotas FC
  • Career: Independiente Santa Fe (Y), Independiente Santa Fe, Chievo Verona, Independiente Santa Fe, Cúcuta Deportivo (L), AD Union Magdalena (L), Boyacá Patriotas FC
  • Position: right-winger
  • Secondary position: striker
  • Preferred foot: right

Jhon Fredy Miranda played as a right-winger and did not impress that much. He did not get on the ball that often, and when he did, he did not control the ball that well. Miranda showed that he has decent bursts of speed and that he is quick. The Colombian winger has an okay physique and managed to win some duels with Yulián Gómez.

Rating: C

Did not impress me, might want to rewatch him.
