Ignacio Tapia

Player profile:

  • Nationality: Chilean
  • Age: 21
  • Date of birth: 22/2/1999
  • Current club: Huachipato FC
  • Career: Huachipato FC youth
  • Position: central defender
  • Preferred foot: right

Ignacio Tapia was the man of the match in this match, showing some impressive qualities. In defense, he kept calm and looked at the ball in order to block a cross. He closed the gaps that Nicolás Ramírez left open because the latter was out of position all the time.

He showed good awareness in defence and read the danger. When he got the chance to put pressure on his opponent down the left-wing he first checked his shoulder to see if any players dove into the gap he left open. He assessed that this was not the case and recovered possession.

The 21-year-old cleared a lot of crosses by positioning himself well and he was disciplined to either stay in position or scan to see if he could put pressure on his opponent. He did not take any risks under pressure when he needed to process an uneasy ball to control.

Rating: A1

Based on this match, I think that he is ready to play for an elite team in Chile or move to a midtable team in Argentina/Brazil.

Yerko Urra

Player profile:

  • Nationality: Chilean
  • Age: 23
  • Date of birth: 9/7/1996
  • Current club: Huachipato FC
  • Career: Huachipato FC youth
  • Position: goalkeeper
  • Preferred foot: Right

The 23-year-old goalkeeper from Chile is already the first goalkeeper of Huachipato FC and has showed some promising signs against Curicó Unido. He is a goalkeeper that struggles through the air and does not have the greatest kicking technique, but he showed decent reflexes and shot stopping ability.

Rating: B2

Based on this match, Yerko Urra should work on his distribution and he should be more confident through the air.

Nicolas Ramirez

Player profile:

  • Nationality: Chilean
  • Age: 22
  • Date of birth: 1/5/1997
  • Current club: Huachipato FC
  • Career: Universidad de Chile & Deportes Temuco
  • Position: central defender
  • Preferred foot: right

The young Chilean defender did not show any promising signs in the match against Curicó Unido. He tends to hold his opponent in duels and gives away a lot of fouls by doing this, he often moves to the side to help out the right-back. He did not really help the right-back though as he got easily dribbled past.

This meant that he left huge gaps in the center and he just left Ignacio Tapia with a lot of trouble to solve. Also, he lost nearly every 1-on-1 duel, missed some ball recoveries by kicking over the ball and he was easy to get past.

Rating: C

He brought many problems to the team, by ignoring the defensive structure and just getting dribbled past easily. He was lucky that Ignacio Tapia solved a lot of problems for him. However, he could’ve just had a bad match.

Disclaimer: I only made notes of these three players, as I was watching purely for Ignacio Tapia, who stood out in the previous match I watched. I purposely left out Joffre Escobar and Brayan Palmezano, who also are 23 years old or younger.
