The Nigerian midfielder is physically strong with an athletic physique, his pace is very evident from the moment you begin to watch him play. He is decent in the air and wins approximately half of his aerial duels. He is very capable in the ground duels where he wins over 60% of them. He is able to hurry the opponent off the ball quickly and effectively without giving away too many fouls.

The Nigeria U20 starlet possesses quick feet and a good first touch, he is comfortable receiving the ball on the half turn and is able to transition from defence to attack at speed. Ogbelu frequently displays great tactical awareness as his positioning is usually spot on, he knows exactly where he needs to be to make an interception. He is well known for his ability to beat the opponent’s press, often using his close control to dribble the ball away from the opposition and is then able to help the team transition to the attacking phase.

The Nasarawa United starlet absolutely loves a shot from range, whilst in one sense this demonstrates his confidence in his own abilities, it can actually be a detriment to his team as most of them rarely hit the target. The young midfielder has an excellent passing range which is on display throughout, he is comfortable threading passes through to the forward line and is capable of switching the play when needed.

When playing as a defensive midfielder, Ogbelu doesn’t venture forward too much, he tends to hold his position with a focus on providing cover for the defensive line. He shows a great work ethic and willingness to play for the team. He is a good communicator and is regularly seen instructing his teammates.

Ogbelu is a little rough around the edges but has a good level of talent which should see him play at a reasonably high level in the future.
