  • C – Average for the level, rewatch

Fabricio Bustos

  • Nationality: Argentine
  • Age: 24
  • Date of birth: 28-04-1996
  • Club: CA Independiente
  • Career: CA Independiente (Y)
  • Position: right-back
  • Preferred foot: right

Fabricio Bustos played as a right-back in this match and had a lot of variation in his game. He either positioned himself in the halfspaces or close to the sideline and contributed to the attack very well. Bustos was dangerous with his over- and underlapping runs and showed good dribbling ability on the ball, being able to turn quickly and having a good acceleration which he could use well. He showed good short passing ability when he was put under pressure. In defence, he did a good job but did not stand out.

Rating: A1

Bustos has stalled in his development in the recent year, but I think that he can still make the step up to Europe. Moving to the Dutch or Belgium league would be good for him.

Alan Franco

  • Nationality: Argentine
  • Age: 23
  • Date of birth: 11-10-1996
  • Club: CA Independiente
  • Career: CA San Telmo, CA Independiente (Y)
  • Position: central defender
  • Preferred foot: right

Alan Franco played as a right central defender in this match. He impressed, but also showed vulnerability when playing a high defensive line. His body position was not optimal, as his feet were faced towards the opposition goal and his body was leaning forward, which means that it simply takes more time to turn. Especially against players like Rafael Santos Borré, this can be deadly. Also, at the 0-1, Franco was at fault for not spotting Borré’s run.

In the defensive duels, he showed good physical ability and strength to come in front of his opponent and win the physical duels. He looked very strong despite his height of 183cm. He did not seem that quick on the first meters which could hinder him and often was too far away from his partner in defence. This means that there’s a big gap between both defenders which could get exploited easily by the opponent. On the ball, Franco showed good technical ability but did not stand out in his passing.

Rating – B1

After being deemed as a very talented defender, his development seems to have stalled and I think that he can’t make a step up.
