Gerardo Arteaga

Player profile:
- Nationality: Mexican
- Age: 21
- Date of birth: 07/09/1998
- Current Club: Santos Laguna
- Career: Santos Laguna
- Position: Left Back
- Preferred foot: Left
Gerardo Arteaga played as a left-back in this match. He once again impressed with his close control, passing technique and ability to play out of pressure in the tight spaces. Arteaga created space for Lozano to score the 1-0 by making an overlapping run, got into good areas often with these runs and got his crosses into dangerous areas, but no-one got to the end of one of his crosses. The Mexican defender showed very good dribbling ability, acceleration and skills. In defence, he once again showed good decision-making and despite often playing very high up the pitch, he did not get caught out of position at once. Also, he seemed dominant in the few 1v1’s he had.
Rating – A1
Tomorrow, we will post a player report on Gerardo Arteaga.
Felix Torres

Player profile:
- Nationality: Ecuadorian
- Age: 23
- Date of birth: 11/01/1997
- Current Club: Santos Laguna
- Career: LDU Portoviejo, Barcelona S.C., Santos Laguna
- Position: Centre Back
- Preferred foot: Right
Felix Torres played as a right central defender and did a decent job for Santos Laguna, despite the fact that he did not impress that much. When he was being put under pressure after he recovered possession, he seemed to panic and always played a long pass that often was inaccurate. He sometimes was found a few meters behind the defensive line which left space open for Vincent Janssen to dive into. He did well to get in front of Janssen at times and dealt well with the striker in the physical duels. He seemed comfortable on the ball whenever Santos Laguna build it out from the back patiently. In the 1v1 duels, he lacked agility which can be explained because he has long legs which means that his legs need to carry more weight.
Rating – B1
I don’t think that he can play at a higher level, but he did a decent job for Santos Laguna.
