Ratings

  • A1 – Very good, could play higher
  • A2 – Strong potential to play higher
  • B1 – Good, strong player at level
  • B2 – Potential to be strong player at level
  • C – Average for the level, rewatch
  • D – Below average, don’t follow up

Caracas FC played in a 4-2-2-2 formation. The front four swapped positions often, especially Echeverría and Robert Hernández, who played in a free role on the wings. They tried to build-up slow and control the game, using both the central zones and the wings to create chances. Eventually, they scored the winner in the 86th minute.

They failed to create a lot of chances and did not play to their full potential. It was very hot in La Guaira which could explain why they played low-intensity football. Deportivo La Guaira managed to hold on quite easily in the first 86 minutes but were unlucky to concede in the 86th minute.

Score: 0-1 Caracas FC (Robert Hernández)

Luis Casiani

Player profile:

  • Nationality: Venezuelan
  • Age: 18
  • Date of birth: 20/07/2001
  • Current Club: Caracas FC
  • Career: Caracas FC (Y)
  • Position: right-back
  • Preferred foot: right

Luis Casiani played as a right-back and in the attacking phase, he impressed once again. However, he made the same mistakes in defence as he did last time. In the first few minutes, he was out of position and he was not alert enough to track the run of Mosquera, which led to a chance for Deportivo La Guaira. The right-back did well to judge high balls and won a lot of aerial duels.

Once again, he did well to see the space in behind and he made both good underlapping and overlapping runs. His final pass or cross was decent as well, apart from one situation where Caracas had a 5v4 situation, in which Casiani made the right choice, but played the pass behind the striker. He showed his good physical attributes again, as well.

In the 1-on-1 duels, Casiani liked to keep distance and he did not scan often, which meant that he only had eye for the ball and his opponent rather than what happened behind or next to him. Luis Casiani got substituted after 65 minutes. However, it was a decent performance by the 18-year-old once again.

Rating: A2

Should stay at Caracas FC this summer to improve his defensive abilities. I think he will make a step up next summer, though.

Anderson Contreras

Player profile:

  • Nationality: Venezuelan
  • Age: 19
  • Date of birth: 30/03/2001
  • Current Club: Caracas FC
  • Career: Caracas FC (Y)
  • Position: central midfielder
  • Preferred foot: left

The technical midfielder came on as a substitute early in the second half and did not manage to have a big impact on the game. He played as the right central midfielder and showed his good technique and ball control once again. He scanned before he received the ball and managed to do the right things after. Also, he showed his good passing range once again.

In defence, he once again managed to position himself well in transition as he recovered possession quickly after possession was lost. He got dribbled past at once as Mosquera was on full speed already and Contreras still needed to start sprinting.

Rating: A1

Contreras has good technical abilities and seems to have good game intelligence. I think that a lot of MLS clubs should be looking at him.

Jorge Echeverría

Player profile:

  • Nationality: Venezuelan
  • Age: 20
  • Date of birth: 13/02/2000
  • Current Club: Caracas FC
  • Career: Caracas FC (Y)
  • Position: attacking midfielder
  • Secondary position: left-winger & right-winger
  • Preferred foot: right

Jorge Echeverría started as a right winger, moved over to left-winger and eventually played as an attacking midfielder. Echeverría is a agile player, has a good technique and is able to turn quickly. He made a better impression than last time, as he was more decisive in the final third.

Even though Echeverría seemed quite limited on the right wing, he did alright and managed to play out of pressure always. He either used his agility or his creative passing. On the right wing, he liked to play crosses to the far post. These were accurate, but not effective. In this match, Echeverría created a few chances for himself and for his teammates.

Rating: A1

Echeverría has good technical ability, vision and creativity. I think he could do well in MLS before moving to Europe.

Eduardo Fereira

Player profile:

  • Nationality: Venezuelan
  • Age: 19
  • Date of birth: 29/09/2000
  • Current Club: Caracas FC
  • Career: Carabobo (Y), Caracas FC (Y)
  • Position: right-back
  • Preferred foot: right

Eduardo Fereira got subbed on after 65 minutes and did not manage to impress. In the 25 minutes he played, he played a lot of early crosses which were not accurate. He showed okay technical ability and was quite quick on the turn. Despite being only 1,67m, he won a lot of aerial duels due to his timing.

Rating: A2 / B2

I’ve not seen enough minutes to really have an opinion about this player, but it was useful to get a first impression on Fereira.
