17 year old goalkeeper Nathaniel Nwosu possesses a physical frame that is impressive for one so young. Standing at approximately 193 cm, he is incredibly strong with an athletic physique, and is still very agile which is a wonderful quality in a goalkeeper. He is able to cover ground across his six yard box quickly and effectively. Nwosu is able to leap well and shows excellent handling when claiming crosses.
The Nigeria U20 goalkeeper was once a central defender so it’s no surprise that he possesses good feet and his excellent first touch means that he is able to play out from the back in a calm and collected fashion. He is able to throw the ball a good distance which is extremely useful when launching a counter attack. His kicking distance is decent although if there is an opportunity to improve this it would be beneficial to his game.
Nwosu demonstrates a general unwillingness to leave his six yard area, this can cause some problems, especially when his defensive line has been breached and it would be ideal for him to sprint from his six yard area to claim the ball. Perhaps this is down to a lack of confidence and is something that with training, could be altered or improved upon.
The 17 year old communicates well with his defensive line and overall is a commanding presence. When watching Nwosu it is easy to forget how young he is, he has the air of a much more experienced goalkeeper. He has the potential to play as a first team starter for a team outside the T5 leagues in Europe.
This is an awesome scout report on him, Beth. Especially since not much scouting info is out on Nathaniel Nwosu on the internet…I’m curious to know how many games of his have you watched and at what level on English of the football pyramid system would you consider his game to be at (e.g. League One, or League Two, or Vanarama National, etc)?

Nathaniel Nwosu was my student as far back as 2017-2019. I am not surprised that he made it to the Nigerian under 23 team. He is a perfect goalkeeper on the field. Back then in school, at every inter-house sports, he was always announced as the best goalkeeper. You will love the way he defend and save balls. His height is one thing that causes trepidation to opponent team. He was very good on the ball as a goalkeeper while in school. I remember I once advised him to keep on playing leather game as I told him that I sees him playing for Nigeria someday. Though in term of academic, Nathaniel has a wonderful handwriting but was always performing below our expectations, though as teachers in his former school, Iponri Estate Senior High School, we felt he could have been performing better in his academic because we were optimistic that his too much focus on football causes him to perform below expectations most time. He was never a full Student.

Thanks for the story on him Nathaniel. I was made aware of him about 13 months ago and been curious about seeing more of him as there is less coverage, footage, and scout info about him here in Europe about him. Nice to hear from someone who has known about him before he came into the football fore & spotlight. Hope he goes on to have a great career in his future – both club level and for his and your country, Nigeria.
