Gonzalo Escobar

Player profile:

  • Nationality: Argentine
  • Age: 23
  • Date of birth: 16/3/1997
  • Current club: CA Colón
  • Career: Club Atlético Temperley
  • Position: left-back
  • Preferred foot: left

Looked disciplined to stay in position to keep the defensive structure. He anticipated well in most situations to intercept the pass or to stay back and not try to intercept the pass. In general, he made a lot of good decisions in defence. Sometimes, his direct opponent came into dangerous situations because a Colon player lost the ball in an area where you can’t lose the ball. He’s just 1.71 m tall, which should be considered as well. In this match, he did not get into physical battles at all.

In possession, he sporadically drove forward to support the attack. His kicking technique is mediocre and it is questionable whether he supports the attack in other games. He isn’t that agile, but he is quite quick. He made a run to support the attack two or three times and this resulted in a wild cross. By that I mean, he just crossed the ball as hard as he could and hoped that someone would walk it into the goal.

Rating: B2 / C

I really like his defensive style of play and I’m a fan of how he anticipated in some duels. However, his qualities on the ball are below par and I don’t know whether his defensive qualities are good enough to become a strong player at the current level.

Alex Vigo

Player profile:

  • Nationality: Argentine
  • Age: 20
  • Date of birth: 28/04/1999
  • Current club: CA Colón
  • Career: CA Colón youth
  • Position: right-back
  • Secondary position: right midfield
  • Preferred foot: right

Alex Vigo played as a right-back and his direct opponent was Guilherme Parede. He had a tough night against him, getting dribbled past and positioning poorly at times. Vigo often was out of position, as he tried to put pressure in situations he should just keep in position. This happened often, both in the defensive third and the final third.

He seemed to be in panic whenever the opposition crossed and did not process long balls of the opposition well. Vigo was very active in the attacking phase, but he does not possess that many qualities on the ball. However, his attacking qualities are better than his defensive qualities.

Rating: C / D

He did not show that many promising signs, if I get the chance I will rewatch him, but there’s no hurry.

Tomás Chancalay

Player profile:

  • Nationality: Argentine
  • Age: 21
  • Date of birth: 1/1/1999
  • Current club: CA Colón
  • Career: CA Colón youth
  • Position: left-winger
  • Secondary position: right-winger and second striker
  • Preferred foot: right

Tomas Chancalay played as a right-winger and has a decent technique. He took the free kicks and nearly scored a free kick. In possession, he often tucked inside, playing in the halfspaces. When he received the pass, he was quite strong to shield off the ball and he did well in the tight spaces. He showed some good passes, both short and long passes. Chancalay had some good dribbles, where he went past his opponent with ease. He liked to switch play with a nice cross pass.

Rating: B1

I think that he was one of the best players in the team in this match.
