Georgi Lazarov is a 21-year-old left forward, but is also used as a nine and attacking midfielder for Cherno More and Bulgaria U-21. Lazarov came to Cherno More from Fratria a few months ago, which plays in the second level, where he also showed himself well. Cherno More is doing more than fine, partly due to important goals from Lazarov, and is in fourth place at the time of writing. He recently also made his debut for Bulgaria U-21 and scored twice on his debut against Gibraltar U-21.
Standing at 1.87 metres, Lazarov has a good height for his role. This is good for the striker position, and in the role of left forward attacker, it is also decent. Lazarov is a strong player who certainly does not get off the ball easily because he uses his shoulder strength really well. That, in combination with his speed, is particularly dangerous, especially since his acceleration with this length is really decent. In the air, Lazarov is also dangerous; his jumping power is good, and he comes well in those duels. So, in the pure striker duels he is fine, but I think that in the role of left winger or 10 Lazarov comes into his own better. There, he scores more often and creates the most. Lazarov is not yet playing complete matches; I think he can do that easily and has more than good stamina.
Lazarov is a technically strong player; he is not a pure, elegant dribbling king with skill moves, but a goal-oriented multi-purpose attacker with a strong nose for goal. His first touch and ball control are good, and this helps him to keep the ball close to him and to shield it. Lazarov’s passing is decent, especially the short, as long passing is something he does not use often anyway. Lazarov also has no assists to his name this season, and that is because he wants to score the ball rather than look for that perfect pass. He mainly uses his right leg and is therefore not two-footed, but his left leg is not bad, as it is not a problem.
Offensively, Lazarov is a really smart player with intelligent runs, having that nose for the goal. With tremendous shot power, every shot is dangerous. He knows how to time his runs well and often takes early shots, and with that shooting power, he certainly can do that. His long shots are particularly good and are really something he excels at. In one-on-one duels, he often stays calm and really comes across as a cool character. I do think that even when he is at 10 or as a pure winger, he can look for more creation and serve his teammates. So also shut off that pure goal instinct to be able to serve his teammates in that way, because with his technical abilities, that is certainly possible.
Defensively, Lazarov is a bit of a lazy player. He is not a very defensively aware player, and that is something he can certainly work on, especially defending against a better opponent. He is hesitant and often does not track back, so especially that defensive awareness can certainly be improved. If he puts himself into the 1-on-1, he can really put intensity into it, and together with his strength and speed, he can really do good things there. Lazarov often presses decently, where he puts in a really high intensity. He is also often active defensively at corners with his jumping power, which is useful at times for the team.
Overall, Lazarov is a strong, fast, and goal-oriented attacker. He seems to be at his best when playing as a left striker and should be used in that position as much as possible to support his development. He does have to work on his defensive intensity and attacking creativity to become a more complete player, but his shot power and jumping power always create dangerous situations. He has only played for half a year at Cherno More, but I definitely think Lazarov fits perfectly with a bottom Eredivisie club like NAC Breda or a low-flyer in Belgium like Westerlo on a short-term deal to develop those defensive and creative impulses.
