Frankarlos Benítez is a 21-year-old Venezuelan goalkeeper who currently plays for Caracas CF in Venezuela’s FUTVE League. Standing at 1.88 m, he has a commanding presence on the pitch and possesses a wide range of skills that highlight his great potential.
His positioning is consistently excellent. When his team has possession, he frequently offers himself as an outlet for build-up play, both centrally and wide outside the penalty area. He has great technical quality in both short and medium-range passes. However, his standout attributes are his precision in long-range distribution and his quick decision-making under pressure, which often allows his team to progress and transition effectively against an opponent’s high press.
When the team is out of possession and a long ball breaks the defensive line, he reads the game intelligently and intervenes outside the box, cutting out the threat with determination. In moments when the team is defending deep, he maintains an active stance—body well-profiled and flexed—ready to react quickly to shots from inside or outside the box. He shows good aerial command, confidently coming out to claim or punch balls from wide crosses.
He possesses high-level reflexes, showing a good reaction time on close-range shots within the penalty area. He exhibits a great command of using both feet to block shots, and a very good, tense arm position that causes the ball to deflect with force away from the goal. In one-on-one situations, he is quick off his line to meet the attacker, adopting an excellent “crucifix” body shape that significantly reduces the angles for a shot on goal.
On low- and mid-height shots from outside the box, his positioning is consistently superb. He reacts quickly and, in most cases, blocks the ball, preventing both second-phase attacks and unnecessary corners, which is a testament to his great security and confidence in these scenarios. On high, long-range shots, he shows great leaping ability and also a good skill for making saves with his weaker hand when required.
On set pieces, his positioning is always correct. While he can occasionally show some hesitation on wide free kicks and corners, choosing to stay on his line, when he does decide to intervene, he acts with power and displays particularly good command in punching clear.
At all times, he shows great composure in his actions, transmitting a lot of confidence to his defensive line and the entire team. He is constantly communicating and encouraging his teammates. His ability to maintain concentration for the full 90 minutes is notable, allowing his team to avoid heavy defeats and secure important wins or draws in international competitions like the CONMEBOL Sudamericana, where he has performed at a very high level.
Overall, Benítez is a goalkeeper with many qualities. In a more demanding environment in Europe where he can continue to develop and improve, he has the potential to become a complete goalkeeper, very capable of competing and becoming a part of a team in a top-five league in the coming years.
