Artur Musak is a 19-year-old midfielder that plays for Zemplín Michalovce in the Slovakian Niké Liga. Last season was his first full-time season with the first team of Michalovce, as he played 22 games in which he scored and assisted twice. Artur Musak has not played for any national team yet, but he is eligible for the national teams of Hungary and Ukraine, where he was born.
Musak has an ectomorphic body build. His body and chest size are quite decent, nothing bad but also nothing spectacular. He does not have much muscle in his arms or legs. He is not very physical and usually avoids physical duels unless really necessary. He mostly uses his shoulder and body to push the opponent away, and then follows up with his leg in front of him. It is not the best way to go into a ground duel, but because he lacks strength, it works for him. He needs to be careful though, as going into duels like that can lead to fouls. Especially when he uses his arms, which he sometimes does.
Musak is around 180 centimetres tall, but he does not stand out in aerial duels. His reading of the ball’s trajectory, his jumping reach and his positioning are all okay, but he lacks consistency in those moments. His acceleration is good. He reaches his top speed quickly, although that top speed is fairly average. He does not usually sprint over long distances, so for short sprints it is good enough. His agility is quite good, he turns and moves easily. His conditioning is alright as well, he keeps moving at a good pace until the end of the match.
Musak is not the kind of midfielder who constantly asks for the ball. He prefers to do a lot of work without it. He moves around a lot, switches sides when needed, and goes from one box to the other. Because of that, his availability is really good and he is often found in open space. He is decent with the ball, too. Musak looks confident in possession and is not easily bothered by pressure. He scans his surroundings often and knows who is around him. He can control the ball well with both feet and with his chest.
His passing game is alright. He likes to pass a bit into space rather than directly into the feet of a teammate. If he continues doing that, he should pay more attention to what his teammate is about to do. Sometimes the teammate moves back to receive the ball into his feet, and he gives it a bit into space which makes it easy to intercept. He can also give a bad pass from time to time, whether too hard, too soft, or simply inaccurate. He does not give real long passes often, but he prefers high, mid-range passes, usually diagonal to the side of the pitch. He has very good vision for those kinds of passes. Musak can also take corners or long free kicks that require a cross, but they are not great. They often lack accuracy and sometimes power, especially from long range. He does not really have a weak foot and uses both feet often for all kinds of actions.
Musak can drop as low as his own defenders during the build-up and helps to progress the ball further. His dribbling is good. He can keep possession under pressure, but he does not often try to dribble past an opponent. Most of his shots are from outside the box, but they are not very good. They often lack accuracy, though they usually have good power. Musak can play as a regular central midfielder, but also as an attacking midfielder.
As a box-to-box midfielder, Musak is quite active defensively. He does not always press the nearest opponent. He prefers to reposition himself into the defensive formation, and when the team drops lower, he starts pressing. If it is an opponent who just took possession from him, he will track him and press him. During normal attacks, Musak can also drop into his own box if needed. He regularly tries to tackle and usually times them well. Musak makes fouls in almost every game, but he always apologises to the opponent. Most of his defensive work is about coverage, and he does that job quite well. He scans his surroundings a lot, and that combined with his good vision works in his favour.
Musak definitely needs more playing time at a similar level in the region. He has some decent traits, but overall his abilities are still too raw. It was a good full-season debut for the first team of Michalovce, although he did not always start and was benched regularly. His ceiling can be quite high, especially if he improves his physicality. His profile could become very interesting for teams. He could end up at a decent team in one of the top six to nine leagues, or at a lower-ranked team in a top five league.
