Alieu Drammeh – CAF U17 Scout Report

Alieu Drammeh is a 15-year-old right winger who plays in Barcelona’s youth team and for Gambia U-17.

Drammeh has a physical profile that is not very typical for a winger. He is very tall, I would estimate he is around 6’1″ (1.85 m) with a muscular build for a 15-year-old. Drammeh is a strong passer. He often comes into central areas to get on the ball and is good at breaking the last line of defence with accurate, well-weighted passes. He also has a good range of passing, capable of switching play with long-range passes and putting in decent crosses from wide areas. Drammeh has some dribbling ability, particularly when it comes to turning out of tight spaces. He is also reasonably quick and can use that to beat defenders. However, he can be a little bit clumsy when carrying the ball. He often takes big touches that result in him being dispossessed. I think it is important to remember here that he is only 15 and likely still getting used to being so tall. So, his coordination and close control are something that could very well improve over the next couple of years for him. Drammeh’s height also makes him a penalty box presence and a danger in aerial battles, especially against smaller fullbacks. Drammeh has decent off-the-ball movement and gets a decent number of shots inside the box with his feet as well.

On the defensive side of things, Drammeh is very effective. He has a strong work rate and tracks back a lot. He is also a strong defender on a technical level. His long legs make him very hard to dribble around. Drammeh seems fearless, never backing out of a physical battle and going hard into tackles, though rarely committing fouls. His height also makes him useful when defending set pieces.

Drammeh is already a part of the fabled La Masia (the commentators literally could not stop bringing this up), so he is well-positioned to make the jump to professional football. I do not know if he is quite a Barcelona-level player (we will see if he can get a little bit more coordinated), but a player with his physical profile and technical proficiency has a very good chance of playing in a top-5 league.
