Csanád Vilmos Dénes is a Hungarian attacker who plays for Zalaegerszeg in the NB1, Hungary’s top division. At 20 years old, he mainly plays as a right winger, but he often moves into a striker role during games, a position he has played in earlier in his career. He is around 1.80m tall with an ectomorphic body type and is right footed. On the international stage, he has also represented Hungary’s U21 team, playing a few games for them.
Dénes is a quick and agile player who moves around a lot. His sharp turns and acceleration help him in attacking situations, making him difficult to mark. He is good at creating space for himself to receive passes, but his balance could be better, as he falls easily. Sometimes this wins him fouls, but not always. He isn’t very strong, lacking muscle mass, but he knows how to use his back to shield the ball. He isn’t very active in aerial duels, and his jumping reach is limited. With the ball, Dénes is composed and confident, even on off days. He sticks to what he’s good at, but his decision-making needs work, especially when choosing between passing and shooting. He also holds onto the ball too long at times, slowing down counterattacks. Defensively, he fights for the ball and tracks back, but he isn’t overly aggressive.
Dénes has good attacking instincts, but he could be more involved on the ball. He positions himself well, making good off-the-ball runs and looking for passes behind defenders. He doesn’t pass really often, and while his accuracy could improve, he does create chances when he does pass. He rarely attempts long or high passes. He is creative but pretty inconsistent with the ball. His dribbling is decent, and he can get past defenders, but he loses possession too often, which is noticeable during games. He occasionally uses his weaker left foot for passes and dribbles. His finishing is solid, most of his shots are on target, and he doesn’t waste too many big chances. Overall, he needs to improve ball distribution and avoid losing possession unnecessarily.
Dénes is active defensively. He helps his right-back and midfielders with pressing and frequently pressures the goalkeeper and defenders when they have the ball. His defensive positioning is decent, and he stays in front of his opponent in 1v1 situations. He times his tackles well, but when he tries to get in front of his opponent, he sometimes commits fouls. He uses his arms a lot while defending, sometimes in a way that isn’t entirely clean. His work rate and defensive aggressiveness are both good, making him a solid team player off the ball.
Csanad Vilmos Dénes is an interesting player. He scored 4 goals and has 5 assists in his debut season in the NB1, which are decent numbers in a team that fights relegation. The Hungarian league suits him quite well at the moment, and I think that’s his level at the moment. A move to a league like the Challenger Pro League in Belgium or Eerste Divisie in the Netherlands could benefit him in his development, but going to a better team in the NB1 would also be good in his situation. He has some decent potential, but in the end I don’t really see him breaking through to decent teams in the top 7 leagues.
