Mihajlo Cvetković is an 18-year-old Serbian striker, born on January 10, 2007, in Niš, Serbia. He currently plays for FK Čukarički in the Serbian SuperLiga and he is around 1.75 meters tall. Cvetković is predominantly right footed, but sometimes he uses his left foot for passing and finishing. Cvetković operates mainly as a center-forward but is versatile enough to play on the left wing. He has already garnered attention for his good attacking instinct and technical abilities, marking him as one of Serbia’s most exciting young prospects.
Cvetković combines speed, agility, making him a dangerous player to defend against. His acceleration allows him to run into spaces behind defensive lines, which he quite often does. His agility maintainins control in tight situations, but his balance should be one part that should be improved. Although he has an ectomorph body build, he can fall quite easily during contacts. Some of them is just to force a foul, but sometimes a stronger defender can just bully him around. His size and being compact help him in ground duels. It enables him to shield the ball effectively and hold off defenders, as he can do that quite well. Cvetković could improve in the air, but with his height he would often struggle against taller defenders. Most of his strength is in his back. Cvetković his fitness is decent. He runs a lot during the game but is subbed out often during the last 20 minutes of games. Overall, his physical attributes complement his playing style, making him an efficient and dynamic forward.
Cvetković is a good attacker. Even if he doesn’t score, he often is involved in Čukarički’s goals by his movement. He is often aware of his surroundings and can take quick decisions for a pass or make a run. Has good power in his shots and he is a really accurate shooter. Cvetković can withstand defensive pressure when in front of the goal and is composed in 1v1 situations. He can shoot with his weaker foot, as he scored twice with it this season. He also can give decent passes with it but doesn’t use it too often. Beyond scoring, Cvetković excels in link-up play. His movement off the ball allows him to create space for himself and teammates and drag defenders out of position. His good agility could make him a good dribbler but sometimes struggles to go past an opponent. If the opponent is also quick and agile, because then he needs to use his body more often and that’s a weaker department of his. Cvetković can control the ball pretty well on his chest and on his foot. While Cvetković’s passing range is adequate, it is an area that could be improve. His short passing in tight spaces is quite good, but he sometimes struggles with longer passes. He likes to give passes directly from his first touch. He doesn’t have the ball all too often but still is able to give a good creative pass that ends up in an attack. This season Cvetković has scored 6 goals in 20 league games.
Cvetković is an attacker, so he hasn’t a lot of defensive work. But still, he tries to help his team out by willing to press opponents high up the pitch, trying to disrupt their buildup play or force a mistake. His quick reactions and anticipation allow him to intercept loose balls and use the mistakes made by defenders. He is not yet a player that regularly runs back to provide defensive support near his own penalty box. But he comes down a bit lower than most strikers, around the middle of his own half at a maximum. There is room for growth though. His discipline could be a bit improved, as he can foul often. He can also be a bit lightheaded in some situation, so keeping his calm could also be improved.
Mihajlo Cvetković is undoubtedly one of the biggest young prospects in Serbian football at the moment. His abilities make him a valuable asset for his team at the moment. If he improves at some of the named skills he could be a good striker in the future.
With his current trajectory, Cvetković has the potential to make a significant impact in a top-tier European league within the next few years. A jump into a league that develops players well, like The Netherlands, Belgium or even a league like the 2. Bundesliga would be good direction for him now. He is a player to watch closely as he continues to refine his abilities and grow into his role as a complete forward.
