Kauan Carneiro Kaka (SK Prostejov) – Scout Report

Kauan Carneiro Kaka is a 20-year-old Brazilian center back who plays for SK Prostejov in the FNL, the second highest division in the Czech Republic. This is the first season of Kauan playing professional football, after leaving the talented youth academy of Karvina past summer. The Brazilian started in 15 games and played almost every possible minute in them. In these games he scored 2 goals and contributed to 2 clean sheets.

Kauan Carneiro Kaka has an interesting body build, looking almost like NBA star Victor Wembanyama. But the Brazilian is only quite a bit smaller than Wembanyama, as he’s around 2 meters tall. So, he doesn’t have a lot of muscles, and you can see that in his ground duels. He doesn’t look very good in them. The combination of not being strong, not being agile and not having good balance doesn’t work well for him. He isn’t awful at them, but he could be better. It’s a total difference with his aerial duels though, where the combination of good jumping power and height definitely help him. He really looks good in the air and is often used in set pieces or deep throw-ins near the goal. His acceleration and pace are okay, but definitely nothing special. He isn’t very talkative but keeps his head rather high than low. Doesn’t get frustrated often, so his mental abilities are normal.

Defensively Carneiro Kaka looks decently. He covers a lot of space, roaming from the area from the left back to the zone of the right center back. Likes to clear the danger quickly, he is able to do that with a header and with a normal kick. He is also able to intercept high, deep passes in the air but just jumping up and heading the ball, which is very good. He often does that for normal passes too, as he intercepts the ball quite often. Carneiro Kaka positions himself almost always quite low, he is occasionally the last standing defender. He rarely makes sliding tackles, prefers just to do that standing if possible. But he doesn’t do those often as well. Because he isn’t very agile and quick, he doesn’t always look really good while defending in 1v1s. His turning speed isn’t very quick, and he doesn’t have quick feet either. It makes him a quite easy opponent to go past if you’re a quick, technical attacker. Overall, he most definitely needs to improve on the 1v1s, but he isn’t very bad either. He is a quite raw talent, but he definitely has some good abilities as a defender.

Carneiro Kaka doesn’t do a lot in the attack. His passing is quite good, he averages around 20 passes per game. Tries to do some long passes as well, which are pretty good as well. Kaka almost always uses his left foot. His ball control is alright, besides often the first touch. He can definitely improve with that. But he can go past an opponent with the ball, it isn’t very technical, but more just really running past him with the ball. Of course, he is a very good target to score from set pieces and long throw-ins. He is often targeted during them, and that resulted in the 2 goals.

Kauan Carneiro Kaka is a really raw talent. He has been performing pretty good in the FNL, and he might be ready for a lower rated Chance Liga team. But he would most definitely need to fight for a starting spot in that team. But for his development, staying at Prostejov until the end of the season would be the best option. They are contenders in getting promoted, as they’re third, so maybe he could bring them to a higher level and stay at an environment he’s used to.
