Report:
Yukhym Konoplya stands at 1.80m with a slightly slim build. He displays decent strength in shoulder-to-shoulder duels and in duels with his back towards the goal. Konoplya is not the quickest, only displaying slightly above average speed over short and long distances. This could hinder him at a higher level. He displays decent agility and directional changes. Konoplya displays decent timing in aerial duels.
Defensively, Konoplya sometimes struggles to get back into the defensive line quickly in transition due to his lack of speed. His opponent sometimes outsprints him trying to move into space in transition. He does well blocking passing lanes covering depth and generally is a composed defender. Konoplya sometimes does not step up at the right time, not timing his interception well and giving away a free-kick as he clips or pushes his opponent. He is assertive in loose ball duels whilst also maintaining his composure. Konoplya, despite his lack of speed, is quite decent in isolated 1v1 duels on the wing as he displays good timing and anticipation, blocking crosses or intercepting the ball. He does not take any risks clearing the ball.
On the ball, Konoplya displays excellent versatility. He either joins the two central defenders to form a back three, he can invert into the midfield or he provides width for Shakhtar Donetsk. His passing technique over short distances is clean. Konoplya is very comfortable on the ball, although he sporadically is slightly sloppy on the ball. His passes under pressure and into the attack are generally accurate and well-weighted. Konoplya reads the situation well, knowing where to pass the ball before receiving it. He has a nice long passing technique. Yukhym Konoplya, although not the quickest, makes good runs in behind. He is capable of creating space for the right-winger by making an underlapping run but can also move into space himself. Konoplya has a good eye for space in the box, although his good but not perfect first touch in tight spaces sometimes ruins the chance. His first touch from aerial passes is a bit inconsistent but he does not get into trouble at this level. Konoplya has a decent crossing technique but creates the most danger with his cut-backs from the byline. He also strikes the ball well.
His lack of speed is very concerning, although he seems quite solid defensively and good going forward. Konoplya is comfortable and good on the ball, displaying good cut-backs, passes under pressure and off-the-ball movement. He is solid in defensive 1v1s but struggles to get back into position quickly enough. He can make a slight step up and would be a decent squad player for clubs such as AFC Ajax.
