Kamiel Van De Perre is a Belgian central midfielder who plays for the youth team of KRC Genk named Jong Genk. They play in the Challenger Pro League. Van De Perre is 20 years old and is around 180 centimeters tall. The youth product of KRC Genk is a box-to-box midfielder, and his right foot is his best one. But he uses his left foot often, mostly when dribbling or for short to middle distance passes. Van De Perre played 12 times for the Belgian U18 team, but never went higher than that. He was also the captain of Jong Genk in multiple matches.
As he is a box-to-box midfielder, he has great fitness. He can run through a whole game, which is easy to see as he shows good work rate as well. His positioning is pretty good as well, in the offense and defense. Van De Perre has a slightly mesomorph body type. Has good strength in duels, isn’t pushed off the ball easily and can block an opponent from the ball pretty easily. He uses his body to get in front of the ball and push the opponent away. Overall, he’s pretty good in duels, on the ground and in the air. His heading and jumping reach are pretty good as well. He’s talkative on the pitch, asks the ball with his hands and helps his teammates with pointing to an open man or space. Pace is quite good, but the acceleration is just decent. But that cannot be told about his turning speed, as he’s quite slow after turning and struggles to accelerate well.
Offensively, Van De Perre is quite good. His passing accuracy for short passes is pretty good, but he slightly struggles with direct passes from the first touch. Half of his long passes arrive, and most of them are nearby his teammates. There is creativity in some of the passes he gives, as he tries to give some passes in a skillful way, but he doesn’t always succeed. He’s calm with the ball, doesn’t struggle in tight spaces as he’s a pretty good dribbler and has good ball control. He rushes pretty deep on some occasions, even if the ball is still around the centre line. Tries to get a deep pass behind the defensive line or just rushes forward to make more open space. He doesn’t shoot often, but he’s lacking some shooting quality anyways.
Van De Perre is decent in the defensively, but he gets often yellow cards. At the moment of writing, he has already 9 out of 23 games he participated in. He fouls once or twice a game on average but wins the same number of fouls as well. He presses midfielders or attackers that have the ball around the centre of the field often, but if they pass the ball he instantly backs off. Like in the offense, he drops back pretty deep in defense. Sometimes he’s even in the box or defending on the wing. Van De Perre reads the passing lanes well and intercepts the ball mostly of that. His marking abilities are okay but could be improved as he loses his man on some occasions during the match.
He’s ready for playing time in the Jupiler Pro League, the highest division of the Belgian football pyramid. But getting through in the Genk squad that already has a good midfield is difficult. His contract ends this summer, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t extend it and leaves for more playing time in Belgium or maybe the Netherlands. Right now, he needs playing time on the highest level in the area. If he could secure that, I see him end up at a Bundesliga team in the future as he would fit there pretty well.
