Report:

Juan Manuel Sanabria stands at 1.72m with an average build. Despite not being the tallest, Juan Manuel Sanabria has decent aerial ability. He displays good timing and jumping reach, while also displaying bravery and commitment. Sanabria is an athletic player. He displays a good burst of speed and is also quick over longer distances. Sanabria changes directions fairly quickly and is agile. He has decent strength in shoulder-to-shoulder duels.

Sanabria is an aggressive and assertive defender. He is aggressive in duels with his back towards the goal, trying to disrupt and overwhelm his opponents and forcing him backwards. However, he occasionally clips and fouls his opponent. Juan Manuel Sanabria gets stuck in the loose ball duels, timing his slide tackles well and being very assertive in those duels. He tries to read passes from opponents, often doing well and intercepting passes after stepping up. Sanabria defends aggressively in defensive 1v1 duels, often trying to stay close to his opponent but sporadically slips after his opponent changes directions. Due to his good timing, he is often quite successful in defensive 1v1 duels. He scans well dealing with crosses from the wings, adjusting his position and clearing the cross well.

He sometimes can get caught out of position, following his direct opponent for too long, even on the opposition’s half. This should be coachable. He always tries to track back quickly after San Luis loses possession, but can not always get back in time. Sanabria sometimes plays higher up the pitch as a left midfielder. He sporadically fails to track runners in behind as he can get caught napping, but in other situations he uses his hands smartly to block the opponent’s run. Sanabria also has the speed to win sprinting duels when covering depth.

Juan Manuel Sanabria has good short and long passing technique. He is comfortable receiving down the touchline, although his first touch can sporadically be slightly bouncy or heavy. Sanabria can play out of pressure with flair using one-two’s or smart passes. He switches play well. He displays good positional play in first-phase possession, adding value to San Luis’s build-up also because of his history as a central midfielder. His passing under pressure is good, although he very sporadically makes a mistake under pressure. Sanabria has mixed results from through passes. His through passes are not always well-weighted. He carries the ball well due to his decent close control and speed. Sanabria likes to overlap but can also play on the inside. His crossing technique is very good, although most of his assists come from set-pieces. Sanabria’s cut-backs are good. He strikes the ball very well from distance, hitting the ball with a lot of power and accuracy. Sanabria sometimes likes to crash into the box late.

Juan Manuel Sanabria has some minor weaknesses defensively, but I think most of his shortcomings are coachable. He is a very intelligent player, reading the game well defensively and always getting stuck in. Sanabria, due to his history as a central midfielder, is very good on the ball. He is a dynamic left-back, being able to go up and down the wing quickly.
